Sure I can.

EDIT: After I download them for myself first, of course...

I think the idea as such is not that bad.

But you should put in some kind of a voting function.
That way at least the evaluation of some characters flaws and failures won't be left to you alone, but to the voters.

It still can be abused, sure, but It would have a more objective ring to it.

The problem with the whole list is: Is anyone really going to check the list before inviting people?
It's hard enough to get a good group, as it is.

Out of respect for forum rules this thread should, and problably will be, locked and/or deleted. Naming names isn't allowed so far as I know, and this is nothing BUT naming names. And half of the list will problably be poorly justified anyway, seeing as how it's one guy's OPINION as to whether or not they're actually a dick. Hell in-game I act like a dick to anyone who deserves it, does that mean they could take a screenshot, send it in and make it look like I'm the bad guy? Yeah it does, the idea is pure nonsense as a whole.

Get rid of this, it's going to turn out to be nothing but a kick in the pants to many people falsely put on the "Black List", which should, in my opinion, be regarded as "The List of Randomly Gathered Names of GuildWars Players"

Anyone can send in altered screenshots (or bits of them) and say someone's an ass, hell some people live their life to be an asshole (I fit in that category...when the occasion calls for it), but does that mean just because I didn't like the way you acted, that I'm going to tell everyone I meet to piss off? No, not at all.

Yeah, lock this thread. Where's Aniewiel! She's great at locking stuff, I'm going to give her a trophy for her duties.

She's off trying to remember all the names of dickheads she's been in PUG's with so she can contribute to the list

... just kidding...

Hahahah that name is priceless, plus the more you read the mainpage of the Blacklist, the more you think it is a 10 year old who hasn't thought it through.

Oh well. As a great Aussie oncesaid "Such is life"

20$ says that this guy's friends will never make an appearance on this no matter what they do.

From the way he put it he seems to think he is that "Maddox".

Hmmm not too sure, this could be abused. Also there seems to be no appeal system in place and the list will be a very biased account of who is bad to play with.

I agree with you that this mentioned list is not the best idea, but...

The OP and you have something in common: you decide alone.

You decide to act like a dick to anyone who deserves it.
The OP decides to put up a dicklist with names he thinks they deserve it.

Is there such a big difference?

I'm tempted to lock the thread because it very much goes against our policy of allowing blacklists on our boards.
However, it's obviously an issue that concerns a lot of people, and I think having a thread to discuss the pros and cons of such a list will be beneficial to the community here.
For now, I'm inclined to let the thread remain, as long as it remains on-topic and the blacklist itself doesn't find it's way onto our boards.

Again, in no way do we condone blacklisting at Guru, and this thread may be closed shorty, but for now, discuss, and hopefully get the arguments out of your collective systems.

This sounds like a good idea in general, but it is all subjective and thats the problem.
Basically its a place for people to "tell tales", sort of like running to teacher first.
Just because someone doesnt do what you consider good etiquette, it doesnt necessarily mean they should be blacklisted for everyone, just you. Their perception of you maybe that you are tyrannical and a "n00b" etc.

Scaphism,

I might help if you just remove the link the to offending blacklist in the original posting.
The other posts appear to be ok. No name publishing there, or didn't I read them carfully enough?

I don´t like this idea. Every static proof (screenshot) even if it isn´t made up is still out of the context.

I provide an example. I was in Tombs with one group, we have very bad and slow target caller, so one monk decided to call (he managed to heal and call faster then the caller). Leader of the group said him to stop calling, monk answered, that the caller targeted very slowly. Then the leader told the monk that he was noob, because the caller is looking for targets (it wasn´t coincidence that he always re-call the monk target :-)
After a while i have got into the group where were some people that played with the "monk caller", they said : "dont invite him, he is noob". But in fact, he isnt.

So whats the point from that example ? Being called a noob or being on a blacklist is just subjective feeling of the person that want him there. We can see a screenshot of the monk calling targets but we won´t see what preceded.

Or maybe some more fitting example. I have been called a noob because i tanked with my ele. That could be the reason I could find myself on the blacklist, even with the authentic screenshot as proof. But was was the reason of it ? What preceded ? Noone will know. (The whole party was dead except me and a monk but nobody got that i wanted to sacrifice myself to draw all the monsters on me so the monk could escape and res the party later.)

You see ? Any situation looks different from the view of different people. Anyone can be reported to the blacklist because someone in his dullness doesnt get or doesnt want to get the reason of that particular behaviour.
That my opinion doesn´t deny that there are a lot of people in Guild Wars that are jerks but there are more of them (at least I hope ) that aren´t and they will probably found themselves on the blacklist not because of their behaviour but because of someone else´s fault.

Edit : Typo.

I am trying to put my own names on the blacklist. I don't want to play with anyone who maintain or read a blacklist.

Perhaps we should maintain a list of great people to play with. The list is probably not long

As Scaphism said, this thread is treading on thin ice. I know that scammers, griefers and "leavers" are a huge concern to everyone who plays Guildwars. However, a list like this doesn't solve the problem. Of the thousands of people who play this game, what's the likelihood that you will run into anyone on that list? More importantly, it is much too easy to abuse.

I will take the link out. If anyone wants to know where this list lives, please PM the original poster.

In the meantime, continue to discuss the benefits/drawbacks to such a list.

I agree this would make it a reward to behave properly instead of punish those who don't or jsut got the wrong end of the stick

The way your side of the story reads, it looks like you or the monk never brought the issue of calling up, to discuss it on your team.

If the teamleader decides on a caller, no matter how wrong is decision might be, the rest of the team should stick with this decision or question and discuss it at the appropriate moment.

I don't really like want-to-be callers who think they should take matters in their own hand.
Every caller makes mistakes or can be slow at times, but if you have a caller: stick to the targets s/he calls. Anything else will only confuse the other people on the team.

Well, I am learning being target caller for guild and I know it isn´t easy and I still make A LOT OF mistakes which i am aware of and which I hope will start disappearing as i will gain more experience in that. But when there is always almost 20 - 30 s duration between the targets so nobody knows who to attack in that case I am glad someone will finally call some target no matter if it was the designated caller or not. But i think thats offtopic so if you want to discuss about that i suggest PM

The idea overall is not a bad idea. It needs to be chagned though. First off all, there needs to be several screenshots and a rating system in place. Second of all it shouldn't go by the word of only one person. Also, there needs to be a limit to the number of players you can blacklist. Either limit it to 1 per day, or 2 or something. Also, people need to decifer the most accurate rating for the blacklisted player. You shouldn't just make it a 5 out of 5 because they were simply spamming res. Finally, without a search feature, the entire process would be a waste.
